Trade deficit increased by approximately €670 mn

Cyprus’ trade deficit increased by approximately €670 mn in the period between January and August compared with the same period last year.
 
Preliminary figures of the Statistical Service show that the trade deficit rose to €3.265.798 between January and August 2019, from €2.591.348 during the same period of 2018.
 
In August 2019, total imports fell to €612,4 mn compared with €648,6 mn in August 2018. Imports from other EU Member States in August 2019 rose to €412,7 mn from €394,3 mn in August 2018. Imports from Third Countries in August 2019 decreased to €199,7 mn compared with €254,3 mn in August 2018.
 
Total exports in August 2019 dropped to €194,3 mn from €268,1 mn in August 2018. Exports to other EU Member States in August 2019 also dropped to €65,8 mn compared with €73,9 mn in August 2018. Exports to Third Countries in August 2019 fell to €128,4 mn from €194,2 mn in August 2018.
