Sales of petroleum products dive by an annual 20% in September

The total sales of petroleum products declined by an annual 20.3% in September, mainly affected by shrinking sales in aviation fuel, with airlines hit the hardest by the coronavirus pandemic.

According data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat), provisions of aviation kerosene declined by 68.7% while an increase was recorded in the sales of motor gasoline by 3.3% and of diesel low sulphur by 7.0%.
 
Sales from filling stations by 5.3% to 60,710 tonnes, Cystat added.
 
Compared to August of 2020, the total sales of petroleum products recorded an increase of 16.8% with all fuel sales, apart from aviation, registering increase.
 
The sales of motor gasoline increased by 9.6% and of diesel low sulphur by 20.9%.
 
The total stocks of petroleum products at the end of September 2020 recorded a rise of 0.7% compared to the end of the previous month, Cystat added.
 
During the period January – September 2020, the total sales of petroleum products registered a decrease of 18.6% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
