The Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry welcomes Thursday’s decision of the Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank (EIB), to finance with 150 million euros the infrastructure project for the arrival of liquefied natural gas in Cyprus.
"This is another important step towards the implementation of the effort for the arrival of natural gas in Cyprus, which will lead to the lifting of our country`s energy isolation from European and international gas networks, will strengthen the security of our energy supply and will lead to cleaner and cheaper electricity production, " the Ministry says in a written statement.
The Ministry of Energy expresses its gratitude for the close cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, the Natural Gas Public Company, Natural Gas Infrastructure Company and the Cyprus Electricity Authority, as well as all those who contributed to the successful outcome.
