Total sales of petroleum products decrease 25.1% in June

Total sales of petroleum products in Cyprus recorded a decrease of 25.1% in June 2020, compared to June 2019.

According to data published by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat), in June 2020, the month during which many COVID-19 containment measures had been gradually lifted in Cyprus, the total sales of petroleum products amounted to 92,550 tonnes.

Decreases were observed in the sales of motor gasoline by 6.6% and in the provisions of aviation kerosene by 91.1%, while the sales of gasoil low sulphur increased by 3.0%.

As far as the sales from filling stations are specifically concerned, these have registered an increase of 0.5% to 55,216 tonnes.

According to Cystat, the total sales of petroleum products in June 2020 compared to May 2020 recorded an increase of 3.9%. A rise was recorded in the provisions of aviation kerosene, as well as in the sales of motor gasoline, gasoil low sulphur and liquefied petroleum gases.

On the contrary, a decrease was recorded in the provisions of gasoil for marine use, as well as in the sales of kerosene, gasoil, light fuel oil and asphalt.

During the period January – June 2020, the total sales of petroleum products recorded a decrease of 17.8% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Αccording to Cystat, the total stocks of petroleum products at the end of June 2020 recorded a rise of 11.3% compared to the end of the previous month.
