Moody’s: Bank ratings for CY

International credit rating firm, Moody’s, published on Wednesday the rating results for banks in Cyprus as part of its refined joint default analysis and updated bank financial strength rating (BFSR) methodologies.

For Bank of Cyprus, BFSR has been changed to C- from D+, while for Hellenic Bank, it has been changed from D to D+.

The global local currency deposit rating for Bank of Cyprus is A2/Prime-1, for Marfin Popular Bank A3/Prime-1 and for Hellenic Bank Baa23/Prime-2.

The foreign currency deposit rating for Bank of Cyprus has been upgraded to A2/Prime-1 from Baa1/Prime-2, for Marfin Popular Bank has been upgraded to A3/Prime-1 from Baa1/Prime-2 and for Hellenic Bank the rating remains unchanged at Baa2/Prime-2.

The foreign currency debt rating of BOCY has been upgraded to A2 from Baa1, while the foreign currency debt rating for subordinated debt obligations has been upgraded to A3 from Baa2. The foreign currency debt rating of MPB have been upgraded to A3 from Baa1, while the foreign currency debt rating for subordinated debt obligations have been upgraded to Baa1 from Baa2.

All ratings are assigned stable outlooks.
