01/02/2008 14:47
The investigation of the Commission for the Protection of Competition for the price of fuel was completed on Thursday. In the next few days the CPC will request certain information by the Energy Service Manager, Solon Kasinis and the Manager of the Competition Service, Christos Malekkides.

According to CyBC Radio, the CPC has concentrated material which is currently under thorough examination. If it is ascertained that there is a case, the oil companies will have to raise their objections within one month.

Petrolina Manager, Akis Lefkaritis said that the CPC officials visited the Company’s office, asked many questions and concentrated the material that they needed for the cost of products.

According to Mr. Lefkaritis, the company cooperated fully with the CPC, providing all invoices and bills and rejected the possibility of a cartel among the companies.

Meanwhile, Energy Service Manager, Solon Kasinis told CyBC Radio that the investigation focuses on three points: whether there is a cartel, whether there is a use of dominant position and whether the companies have incalculable profits.

Mr. Kasinis said that his Service monitors international fuel prices on a daily basis, evaluates them and compares them with prices in Cyprus.
