ACTA – OEB against CAIR strike

07/12/2007 11:59
The strikes in Cyprus Airways on December 12, 17 and 18 have aroused strong feelings. In an announcement released today, the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents said that the strikes will hit Cyprus Airways.

“The announcement of the strike measures is completely incomprehensible, since the rights of the Cyprus Airways employees are safeguarded fully by the new regime of airports management”, the Association said.

According to the announcement, “travelers who wish to make their holidays or to return to Cyprus during those days have been panicked”.

Similarly, OEB is against the strikes, stressing that Cyprus Airways’ decision for the ground services is a right that every company operating in Europe has. “Cyprus Airways, with a huge cost and without being obliged to do so, has safeguarded the rights of its employees”, it noted.

OEB urged the CAIR employees to vote against the trade unions’ proposal for strikes and to accept that of the Labour Ministry’s.
