Agitation in CAIR

06/12/2007 09:26
SINIKA SEK and SIDIKEK PEO decided to stage a 24-hour strike on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 and a 48-hour strike on December 17 and 18.

The trade unions rejected the Labour Ministry’s conciliatory proposal on the transfer of the ground services to the Company’s joint venture with Swissport, declaring that they are ready to stage indefinite strikes if necessary.

Cyprus Airways appealed to the trade unions to withdraw their strike measures. “This action is untimely, unjustified and unethical. It will affect negatively a beleaguered company, which is trying hard to get out of its loss-making course and survive. The strikes will hit the Company during Christmas, when hundreds of chartered flights have been scheduled”, CAIR announced.
