19/12/2005 12:27
The Ministerial committee that handles the Cyprus Airways issue has a series of meetings with the trade unions on Monday to evaluate the financial condition of the national carrier. After its meeting with SYNYKA-SEK, which represents 70% of the staff, SYNYKA Chairman, Costas Demetriou said that the two parties had extensive talks on the financial condition of the carrier and on the fact that the government is expected to submit a final “take it or leave it” proposal tomorrow.

Invited to comment on the staff’s demands, Mr. Demetriou said that the employees are highly concerned about the 3% of the provident fund, the reduced salaries and the allotment of the Cyprus Airways’ services to the public sector. SYNYKA Chairman said that there are several demands that concern specialized groups of staff.

The meeting between the committee and SIDIKEK-PEO is now in progress.
