CAIR: Signs of displeasure for compensation plan

05/12/2005 14:08
The coordinative committee of the five Cyprus Airways trade unions had a meeting on Monday noon to evaluate the government’s new compensation plan to the staff that will be dismissed as redundant.

The committee will request by the Management tomorrow to clarify a) whether dismissals will be obligatory or voluntary, b) how much will the government save after the dismissal of the 500 employees and c) whether there are margins of improvement of the plan.

Coordinative Committee representative, Costas Demetriou, stated that there is no clear evidence on behalf of the staff whether it is interested in withdrawing voluntarily or accepting the plan and criticized the Management for not submitting the plan to the staff in order to decide accordingly.

According to StockWatch sources, it seems that the compensation plan falls short to the staff’s expectations and is not expected to be well received.
