01/03/2005 15:05
Conciliatory Service Manager, Charalambos Kolokotronis announced on Tuesday that Cyprus Airways has violated the Industrial Relations Code, after its decision to dismiss 22 pursers due to redundancy.

Mr. Kolokotronis also denounced the decision of the flight attendants’ trade union to proceed to strike measures, ignoring the provisions of the Code. On the question whether the national carrier will adopt the recommendations of the Labour Ministry, Mr. Kolokotronis said that the conciliatory service cannot enforce anyone to do so, but recommends the proper procedures and denounces violations.

SYNYKA-SEK and SIDIKEK-PEO General Secretaries Costas Demetriou and Antonis Neophytou welcomed the Labour Ministry’s proposal and urged Cyprus Airways to withdraw the letters and follow the proper procedures.

On the other hand, CAIR spokesman, Tasos Angelis said that the final decisions will be taken by the Board of Directors, which will meet at 3.00 in the afternoon.
