The Fuel Price Observance Committee held an extraordinary meeting at the Commerce Ministry on Friday, attended by the Energy Manager, Solon Kasinis, who is also a member in it.

Commerce Minister, Antonis Paschalides will be informed on the results of the meeting tomorrow and if deemed necessary he will issue a decree for the determination of the fuel retail prices on the island if they are exceptionally higher than justified by the international and domestic conditions.

In his statements to CNA, Commerce Ministry General Manager, Efstathios Hamboullas said that the Committee’s role is to observe the price fluctuations in Cyprus and overseas and to advise the Commerce Minister recommending or not the issue of a decree.

In view of the Minister’s briefing, the members of the Committee did not make any statements to the media after the end of the meeting.

Apart from Messrs. Hamboullas and Kasinis, the meeting was also attended by Manager of Competition and Protection of Consumer, Christos Malikkides and representatives of General Accounts’ Department, CYSTAT and Customs Department.
