PASYDY and the Finance Ministry have expressed their satisfaction on the preparation of the proposal, which satisfies the problems of the temporary employees.

According to the proposal approved by the Council of Ministers, the Cyprus legislation is harmonized with the Community Acquis and the contracts of a large number of temporary employees will be converted into two-year contracts. The temporary employees will enjoy the same regime as the permanent employees and will have the benefit of pay rises.

PASYDY General Manager, Glafcos Hadjipetrou has expressed his content on the settlement, despite the fact that certain temporary employees might not be employed again.

The temporary employees, on the other hand, agree with the proposal since they are aware of the fact that the current legislation does not leave margins for a better solution.

Finance Minister, Makis Keravnos said that the government has also approved a proposal on the acceleration of employment of the permanent employees that will “relieve” the public service.
