Cyprus GSM auction enters second day

30/10/2003 10:13
The first GSM auction in Cyprus will enter its second day today after seven rounds of closed bidding failed to separate the two rival consortia for the 20-year license being offered as part of the island’s EU deregulation drive.

Bids surpassed £9.75m, before bidding was interrupted at 1700 local time. The bidding will continue at 10:00 this morning, most likely at £10,6m.

The two contestants are the Greek-led consortium Cosmote and the Lebanese and Cypriot-led consortium, Scancom.
