Government Spokesman, Kypros Chrysostomides said on Wednesday that Tourism Minister, Giorgos Lillikas will submit the proposal on the opening of a casino in Cyprus to the Council of Ministers next month, when his contacts with the political parties and the unions will be completed.

It is noted that several foreign companies have already expressed their interest, while the Finance Minister stated that “we have to see positively the opening of a casino”.

The Cyprus Tourism Organization, the Travel Agents Association, PASYXE, STEK and SEK are the main supporters of the casino, stressing that it will contribute to the recovery of the tourist industry and the improvement of seasonality.

AKEL still sees the issue with scepticism.
