Cyprus Airways announced that Crete and Cyprus will be linked by a weekly direct flight during the winter season as well. Direct flights between the two destinations began 25 years ago with regular flights during the summer season and extra flights during peak seasons such as Christmas and Easter.
The flight which is now established throughout the year aims to serve passengers from Cyprus to Crete as there appears to be increased demand both for leisure as well as for business purposes. The increase in demand is also apparent from Crete to Cyprus as many Cretans chose Cyprus for their holidays whilst Cyprus also offers to professionals a convenient transit point to other destinations in the Middle East and the Gulf area.
The flight to Herakleion will carry the code CY424 and will depart from Larnaca airport every Sunday at 12.45 p.m. arriving in Herakleion at 2.15 p.m. There will be return flights the same day by flight CY425 departing at 7.35 p.m. and arriving in Larnaca at 9.05 p.m. the direct flights begin on the 4 November 2001.
