Concerns on CAIR viability

Democratic Party (DIKO) expressed "grave concern" about the risk that Cyprus can be found without a national carrier.

After the meeting between DIKO President, Marios Garoyian and representatives of the Pancyprian Pilots’ trade union, DIKO spokesman, Fotis Fotiou expressed his concerns.

“Therefore, we are sending a dramatic appeal to those who have responsibility, authority and duty to safeguard and consolidate Cyprus Airways, to do so early - directly, because time is running out”.

“In order not to have the same effect as that of Eurocypria, the company must first be consolidated so that strategic investors express their interest”, he added.

According to Mr. Fotiou, no temporary relief will solve the serious problems of CAIR endangering the viability of the company unless there is also a viable strategic plan to rescue the company.
