02/12/2004 12:15
Today is a critical day for the renewal of the union contracts in the semi-governmental organizations.

According to sources, Labour Minister, Christos Taliadoros is having a meeting at 4 pm with the trade unions SEK and PEO to submit his conciliatory proposal for the contracts in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Same sources reveal that the Labour Minister’s proposal will focus on the pay rises, the benefits and possibly the extension of the retirement limit to the 63rd year.

On Thursday, Finance Minister, Makis Keravnos welcomed the intention of SEK and PEO to accept the zero pay rises in 2004 and 2005, which will contribute to the government’s efforts to reduce the fiscal deficit.
