OPT: Losses due to conferences and publications

28/05/2009 15:19
Options Cassouilides recorded losses of €145.3 thousand in the first quarter of 2009 compared to profits of €603.2 thousand in the corresponding period of 2008. The losses are attributable to its turnover due to the lower activity in the sector of conference and publications.

The turnover fell by €11.6 million to €4.3 million from €16 million due to the lower activity in conferences (€9.9 million) and publications (€2 million). The decline in conferences is linked to the world anesthesiology conference in the first quarter of 2008 and in publications to the sale of the stake that the Company held in N.D.D Special Publications.

The sector of printing remained at the same level as last year.

The loss from operations stood at €100 thousand against a profit of €895.4 thousand in the corresponding period of 2008 and stemmed from the sector of medical services since the investments in Asia in 2008 have not been fruitful yet.
