Press: 6 HB Directors subject to CB approval

The major issue in today’s financial press is the 40th Annual General Meeting, which elected the new 10-member Board of Directors.

The newspaper “Phileleftheros” reports that DISY withdraws its confidence in the administration of the Cooperative Movement. It says that the party disagrees with the appointments, placements and case management practices. DISY appears irritated by the appointment of former executives of Laiki and an executive with “potential criminal responsibilities”.

The “Economy” inset of the newspaper reports that 6 Board members of Hellenic Bank expect the green light from the Central Bank.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Politis” refers to the 40th Annual General Meeting of Hellenic Bank. According to the report the AGM appointed Irena Georgiadou and David Bonnano of Third Point, who are waiting for the Central Bank’s “ok” to undertake the position of Chairwoman and Vice Chairman respectively.

“Politis” also reports that Bank of Cyprus gives emphasis to the big debtors to deal with the NPLs.

The new BoD must handle the NPLs, while it must prepare the bank for a capital increase so as to deal with the challenges of the stress tests.

The newspaper also highlights that deposits increased in April for the first time since December 2012.
