Press: BOCY-MPB AGMs

The major issues in today’s financial press are the Annual General Meetings of Bank of Cyprus and Marfin Popular Bank and the increase in the price of several first aid goods and food.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Phileleftheros” refers to the Annual General Meetings of Bank of Cyprus and Marfin Popular Bank. According to the report, BOCY’s AGM will take place on May 14, while that of MPB a day later. The Managements of the two banks will refer to the developments in 2007 and their main targets for 2008.

Elsewhere the newspaper reports that the banks will start announcing their three-month results on May 22.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Simerini” refers to the increase in the price of certain goods and food. According to the United Nations, the price of food recorded an increase of 35% in a year.

The newspaper also highlights that traffic jam affects negatively the Cypriot society and the quality of life.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Alaithia” reports that EAC might pay millions of pounds as a fine for the environmental pollution. The problem focuses on the fact that the Company uses crude oil for the power production.

“Alithia” also highlights that the Cypriot consumers become victims of internet fraud.

The newspapers “Politis” and “Haravgi” do not contain a financial inset.
