Press: Foreign investments in Cyprus

The major issues in today’s financial press are the efforts for investments in Cyprus and the promotion of growth measures, KOE’s survey on property prices and China’s interest in investing in Cyprus.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Phileleftheros” refers to the efforts for investments in Cyprus and the promotion of growth measures. According to the report, amid estimates that economy is already in recession, the efforts for investments have been intensified, while the legislative regulations that will contribute to the promotion of growth measures are being prepared.

Elsewhere the newspaper reports that trade deficit in January – December 2011 is lower by €5269 million.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Politis” refers to KOE’s survey on property prices. According to it, the housing property prices fell 11% in 2011, while their upward trend was interrupted in 2008.

“Politis” also refers to the closure of shops in Athens.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Simerini” refers to China’s interest in investing in Cyprus. According to the report, Cyprus attracts China within the framework of its penetration in Europe.

The newspaper also reports that the Indian growth rate slows down.

The newspaper “Haravgi” refers to the memorandum of understanding that the Cypriot and the Chinese SECs will sign soon to facilitate investments on the island.
