Press: “Hellas Sat” – EAC

02/12/2002 09:06
The financial press is almost non-existent today, as most newspapers deal with the development of the UN solution plan, submitted by the UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan.

The newspaper “Simerini” highlights that EAC’s stake in “Hellas Sat” is to reach $19 million (26%), while final details are to be discussed at tomorrow’s conference between EAC’s officials and the Minister of Commerce. The issue will be brought before the Cabinet to be approved after the Copenhagen Summit on December 12. The amount of $19 million must be approved by the Parliament after the submission of a complementary budget and it will be transferred to “Electric Ltd” (EAC’s subsidiary Company) that is to represent EAC to the program. “Electric Ltd” will also represent EAC in all other possible investments, not necessary related to electric power.

The newspaper “Phileleftheros” refers to EIU’s (Economist Intelligence Unit) revised estimates for Cyprus economy for 2003. Specifically, EIU foresees that GDP for 2003 will grow by 4% against 3.1% as previously estimated. “Phileleftheros” also deals with the speech of Commerce Minister, Nicos Rolandes, at the “Businesswomen ” meeting, as well as the new synthesis of FTSE20 that will include Lordos Plastics (LPL) and Frou-Frou (FBI), replacing Aristo Developers and Hadjiioannou Farm.

The newspaper “Alithia” does not contain financial news.
