Press: Reactions for VAT

The major issues in today’s financial press are the reactions after the government’s decision to change the period of the VAT collection and the deterioration in the car market conditions.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Phileleftheros” refers to the businesses’ effort to change the government’s mind in relation to its decision to change the period of VAT payment. According to the report, CCCI, OEB and PASYXE agreed on the wrong choice of the time period and according to sources many companies appealed to courts.

Elsewhere the newspaper reports that PEO blames the hoteliers for the negative conditions in the hotel industry.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Politis” refers to the government’s decision to hasten the VAT payment period for the companies that pay tax of €1 million. According to the report, DIKO MP, Angelos Votsis and DISY MP, Averof Neophytou said that this decision might cause a scare and loss rater than a benefit.

“Politis” also refers to the meeting of SYNYKA, SIDIKEK, PASYPI, ASYSEKA and SYPKKA today to discuss the developments on the governmental proposal for the support of Eurocypria.

According to the report, the car importers will proceed with a second round of dismissals in November, which will concern more employees that in summer.
