Press: Some failed to pass fitness test

The major issues in today’s financial press are the Annual General Meeting of the Cooperative Central Bank and the results of the first fitness test of the 16 Board members of Bank of Cyprus.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Phileleftheros” refers to the results of the fitness test of the 16 Board members of Bank of Cyprus. According to the report, two Board members failed to pass the test. The CB Governor, who is currently in Lithuania, was informed on the results and is expected to announce his decisions to the bank.

Elsewhere the newspaper reports that the Eurogroup is expected to approve today the second tranche of €1.5 billion.

The newspaper “Politis” reports that Itera did not show up at the meeting with the National Gas Public Company (DEFA), refusing to reduce the price at levels deemed interesting for Cyprus. Instead, a representative of the company asked by President Anastasiades the conduct of an investigation by the General Auditor. Mr. Anastasiades accepted the proposal.
