Press: Survey, PASYXE, moratorium in employment

The major issues in today’s financial press are the survey on the businessmen’s evaluation for the four sectors of economy, the Annual General Meeting of PASYXE and the government’s intention to restrict employment in the public sector.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Phileleftheros” refer to the survey carried out on behalf of the Finance Ministry on the businessmen’s evaluation for the four sectors of economy. According to the report, the survey showed an increased climate of confidence for the sector of trading and services.

Elsewhere the newspaper refers to the Annual General Meeting of the Bank of Cyprus.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Politis” refers to PASYXE’s Annual General Meeting. According to the report, PASYXE Chairman, Haris Loizides tried to blame the government for the lack of new projects and initiatives in the sector of tourism.

“Politis” also refers to the meeting of the EU Competitiveness Council of Ministers held on Tuesday.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Simerini” refers to the government’s intention to restrict employment in the public sector. According to the report, the labour peace in the public and semi-governmental sector is at stake.

The newspaper also refers to the three-month results of Louis Group.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Haravgi” refers to the circular on the moratorium in the employment of permanent and temporary employees in the public sector.

“Haravgi” also refers to the statements of CTO Chairman, Fotis Fotiou that the tourist revenues for April have showed an increase of 20% compared to 2005.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Alithia” refers to PASYXE’s Annual General Meeting. According to the report, President of the Republic, Tassos Papadopoulos stressed the need for a joint effort to bring Cyprus back to the tourist map, while PASYXE Chairman stated that “prayers” are not enough.
