20/12/2004 10:41
The major issues in today’s financial press are the banks’ demand for the suspension of stricter regulations on unpaid loans, the mergers of the Cooperatives and the demands of the temporary employees.

The newspaper “Phileleftheros” reports that the Central Bank would like to introduce a stricter time framework to the banks from January 1, 2005 with regard to the loans. The Central Bank is currently on negotiations with the banks and all possibilities are open.

Elsewhere the newspaper refers to the decision of the Standard and Poor’s to maintain the ratings of the public debt in Turkey, after the setting of the date for the start of accession talks with Brussels.

The newspaper “Politis” highlights that more than 40 Cooperatives expect the approval of their members to proceed to mergers. According to the report, “each Cooperative operates as an autonomous unit with its own management, but reliability and liquidity must be centralized”.

The newspaper “Simerini” reports that the temporary employees will go on a strike “if their demands are rejected”. According to the report, the temporary employees would like to have a meeting with the House President, Demetris Christofias and the Finance Minister, Makis Keravnos.

The newspaper “Alithia” reports that foreign exhibitors have criticized strongly the State Fair Authority for its “bad organization and promotion”.

The newspaper “Haravgi” does not contain a financial inset.
