Press: Wage cut by order

The major issue in today’s financial press is the Finance Minister’s decision to issue an order in order to reduce the salaries of the 300 employees in the Cooperative Central Bank, members of ETYK.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Phileleftheros” refers to the cut in salaries in the Cooperatives after the issue of the Finance Ministry’s order. According to the report, by decree of Harris Georgiades it was decided and imposed a wage and benefit cut of 15% among 300 employees of the Cooperative Central Bank. ETYK responded by describing the decision morally unjust and unethical, while trade unions SEK, PEO and DEOK expressed strong opposition.

Elsewhere the newspaper reports that according to Central Bank data, deposits in December showed signs of stabilization since outflows fell to €165 million.

Specifically, Haris Georgiadis amended the decree for the recapitalization of the cooperative movement and published it in a special edition of the gazette.
