ECB rate at 1%

The European Central Bank decided on Thursday to keep its rates on hold at 1%.

In December, during its second meeting under the Chairmanship of Mario Draghi, the ECB had cut its interest rate by 25 base points to 1% while in November it had cut them by 25 base points as well.

The ECB announcement is as follows:

At today’s meeting the Governing Council of the ECB decided that the interest rate on the main refinancing operations and the interest rates on the marginal lending facility and the deposit facility will remain unchanged at 1.00%, 1.75% and 0.25% respectively.
