Economic sentiment in EU27 and the euro area slumped in September. In Cyprus, the climate has stabilized to low levels.

In the sector of services, the indicator in Cyprus deteriorated marginally to -20.8 from -20.4 points in August.

In the consumer confidence, the indicator stood at -49.9 from -50.5, in the industry at -19.6 from -23.4 and in constructions at -49.4 from -50.7.

In EU27, the economic sentiment indicator fell 3.4 points to 94 points from 97.4 points, while in the euro area it declined 3.4 points to 95 points.

According to the European Commission, this decline reflects the deterioration of the climate in all sectors with exceptionally strong losses in the industry and the services.

Among the seven largest EU members states, decreases were registered in Italy (-5.1), France (-3.5%), the United Kingdom (-3.4), Germany (-2.1), Spain (-1.8) and the Netherlands (-1.7).
