Low rates: The end of the era

The European Central Bank decided today to increase interest rates for the first time after July 2008 by 25 base points to 1.25%.

The decision was anticipated and eyes now focus on the statements of ECB President, Jean Claude Trichet on the course of the interest rates later today.

It is noted that inflation stands significantly higher than the ECB target, which is 25.
