D. Kalogirou becomes new SEC Chairwoman

CSE senior officer, Demetra Kalogirou, has been appointed as Chairwoman of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Council of Ministers decided on Wednesday to appoint Mrs. Kalogirou as Chairwomen of the SEC, replacing Mr. Giorgos Charalambous, whose terms of office expired in June. So far, Mrs. Kalogirou was a Senior Officer of the Cyprus Stock Exchange.

In his statements after the end of the meeting, Government Spokesman, Stephanos Stephanou also announced the appointment of three new members in the SEC: Messrs. Euripides Polycarpou, Menelaos Kyprianou and Marios Moiseos.

Speaking to StockWatch, Mrs. Kalogirou thanked the Council of Ministers for her appointment and noted that with her 15-year experience in stock market issues, she will try to contribute to the development and the role of the capital market.

“A lot can be done”, she added.
