New Strike Measures Threaten Cyprus Airways

02/08/2001 08:51
The independent union of Cyprus Airways employees ASYKEKA announced new strike measures following the failure of the arbitration service of the Labour Ministry to find a mutually acceptable solution for satisfaction of their demand for promotion of engineers of the technical department.

The union claims that it has sought a solution to the problem since 1995 and in May of this year the issue was declared as having reached a deadlock according to the Labour Ministry's arbitration service.

The management of Cyprus Airways on the other hand describes the union's action as arrogant, stating that it seeks to punish travellers during the peak month of the year, and their demands as outrageous. Cyprus Airways called for the public's support in its efforts towards a solution of the problem and for the Labour Ministry to complete its arbitration process.
