Average monthly earnings of employees down 3.3% in Q1

Based on provisional data, the average gross monthly earnings of employees during the first quarter of 2021, amounted to €1,880 compared to €1,945 during the first quarter of 2020, recording a decrease of 3.3%.

According to the Statistical Service of Cyprus, the average gross monthly earnings during the first quarter of 2021, seasonally adjusted, are estimated at €1,961 and compared to the fourth quarter of 2020 they have recorded a drop of 1.7%.

It is clarified that the amount taken into account is the earnings paid by the employer and does not include any amount paid as an allowance by the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance.

The average gross monthly earnings of male employees during the first quarter of 2021 are estimated at €2,029 and of female employees at €1,702. Compared to the first quarter of 2020, the average gross monthly earnings of male employees recorded a decrease of 2.5% and of female employees a decrease of 4.3%.
