Labour Minister travels to Porto for Social Forum

Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Yiannis Panagiotou travels to Porto to attend the Porto Social Forum that will be held on May 26 and 27. The European Year of Skills and the European Social Model are the main issues on the agenda.

Ministers responsible for employment and social affairs from EU Member States, leaders of European institutions, European Social Partners and civil society will participate in the forum, according to a Ministry of Labour press release.

The goals of the Porto Social Forum are to reinforce the European Year of Skills, which aims to highlight that lifelong learning, including upskilling and retraining to meet today's demands and tomorrow's jobs, is central to all Member States' policies and raising awareness of European policies regarding the European Pillar of Social Rights.

Also strengthening the dialogue between partners and European institutions, deepening the debate on the social dimension in the future of Europe and discussing the social state of the EU by identifying risks, challenges and priorities will be on the agenda.
