Record water flow to dams for December

According to the latest official data, the month of December 2001 was record-breaking for water flow to the dams, equalling 49 million cubic metres. To date, dams are holding 64 million c.m. of water equalling 23% of their total capacity, comparing very favourably to last year when the dams only contained 9% of their capacity. The record for the most water flow to the dams over all months is still recorded as January of 1989 when 65 million c.m. of water were collected.

Rainfall for December reached 222 m.m. whilst according to official records, the most rainfall for the month of December was recorded in 1991 with 308 m.m. of rainfall.
