Registered unemployed decreases by 16.7% in August

The total number of registered unemployed presented an annual decrease of 16.7% in August 2019, the Statistical Service announced on Wednesday.
 
According to Cystat, the unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of August 2019, reached 19.883 persons. Based on the seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for August 2019 decreased to 21.945 persons in comparison to 22.236 in the previous month.
 
It said that a decrease of 3.983 persons or 16.7% was recorded compared with August 2018, attributed mainly to the sectors of trade (a decrease of 684), construction (a decrease of 571), public administration (a decrease of 391), accommodation and food service activities (a decrease of 311), manufacturing (a decrease of 260), professional, scientific and technical activities (a decrease of 122) and to newcomers in the labour market (a decrease of 1.308).
