The registered unemployed fell by 4.108 or 13.4% in March, compared with the same month last year, the Statistical Service of Cyprus announced on Thursday.
Cystat said that unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of March 2019, stood at 26.508 persons. Based on seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed decreased to 23.797 persons in the third month of the year, from 24.095 in the previous month.
Compared with March 2018 there was a drop of 4.108 persons or 13.4%.
The largest decrease was in the sector of trade with 903 persons, followed by the public administration with 585, construction with 550, manufacturing with 366, education with 176, accommodation and food service activities with 131. Newcomers in the labour market also decreased by 1.468.
