Registered unemployed down 19.2% in February

Registered unemployed recorded an annual drop of 19.2% in February, marking its lowest level since July 2011 according to seasonally adjusted data released on Monday, by the Cyprus Statistical Service.
 
Registered unemployed according to District Labour Offices records on the last day of February 2018, stood at 34,204.
 
Based on the seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for February 2018 dropped to 28,560 persons compared to 29,412 in January.
 
Compared with February 2017, a drop of 8,122 persons or 19.2% was recorded which was mainly observed in public administration with a drop of 2,002 unemployed, trade  with a drop of 1,341 unemployed and construction with a drop of 1,067 unemployed.

They were followed by newcomers in the labour market who recorded a drop of 902, manufacturing, with a drop of 686 unemployed, accommodation and food service activities, with a drop of 540 unemployed, financial and insurance activities, with a drop of 524.
