Registered unemployed drop annually by 63.8% in April 2022

Registered unemployed at the District Labour Offices on the last day of April 2022, reached 11,664 persons, according to data published by the Cyprus Statistical Service on Wednesday. In comparison with April 2021, a decrease of 20,522 persons or 63.8% was recorded.

Based on the seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for April 2022 decreased to 12,853 persons in comparison to 13,087 in the previous month.

The decrease of 20,522 persons or 63.8%, in comparison to April 2021, is attributed mainly to the sectors of accommodation and food service activities (a decrease of 4,965), trade (a decrease of 3,987), construction (a decrease of 1,402), manufacturing (a decrease of 1,273), transportation and storage (a decrease of 963), as well as to the decrease of 1,602 persons recorded in newcomers to the labour market.
