Industrial producer prices go up

The industrial producer prices in Cyprus and Europe continue to follow an upward trend. According to Eurostat data released on Wednesday, industrial producer prices in Cyprus grew by 3.7% in April compared to the corresponding month of 2009. In April 2010 compared with April 2009, industrial producer prices gained 2.8% in the euro area and 3.7% in the EU27.

Among Member States for which data are available, the largest increases in the total index were observed in Malta (+16.7%), Greece (+9.1%), the United Kingdom (+8.5%) and Denmark (+6.6%). The only decreases were observed in Latvia and Slovakia (both -4.5%).

In April 2010 compared with March 2010, the industrial producer price index rose by 0.9% in the euro area and by 1.0% in the EU27. In Cyprus, prices rose by 0.4%.
