Deputy Minister stresses catalytic role of digital transition in economic recovery

Deputy Minister for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Kyriakos Kokkinos, has stressed the catalytic role of digital transition in the efforts to achieve a viable and resilient European economy, as well as an open and inclusive society.

The Deputy Minister was speaking at the EU Digital Assembly, that took place 1-2 of June.

According to a press release from the Deputy Ministry of Research, the Assembly focused on the EU`s 2030 targets for the digital decade, which include i.a. digital skills, digital business transformation, high-speed connectivity, secure and sustainable digital infrastructure and the digitisation of public services, as well as in the "Digital Europe" program, which provides funds of 7.5 billion euro for digital projects.
 
In his intervention, the Minister referred to the importance of digital and innovative solutions promoted under various mechanisms, such as the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

In the framework of the Assembly, delegates adopted the "Lisbon Declaration - Digital Democracy with a Purpose", which underlines the anthropocentric character of the digital transition and the need to preserve European values and rights in the digital world.
