Today the European Council is putting Turkey under supervision, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromos said after the Sibiu summit, expressing President Anastasiades' full satisfaction with the support he received from his counterparts.
The Spokesman said that the government and the President himself are pleased with the support from the EU partners at the informal European Council and the clear support by the President of the European Council who declared that the united Europe stands behind Cyprus, Prodromou pointed out.
He said that Donald Tusk has called on Turkey to respect the sovereign rights of the Republic of Cyprusand has made it clear that the European Council will closely monitor Turkey`s stance.
He said that this refers both to the extraordinary session of the European Council on 28 May and to the next European Council in June.
