Deputy Minister of Tourism presents Cyprus’s latest Covid data in visit to London

The Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios has been presenting the latest epidemiological data regarding the Covid pandemic in Cyprus to UK officials during a visit to London.

The Deputy Minister’s visit comes ahead of the first review of the UK Government’s ‘green list’ for international travel.

The updated list will come into force on Monday 7th June, with the announcement about which countries will be added to it expected by the end of this week, possibly Thursday.

Cyprus, along with almost all the rest of Europe, was placed in the ‘amber’ list last month, when the UK authorities lifted the ban on international travel for leisure. Travellers from ‘amber’ countries are required to self-isolate for ten days upon their arrival to the UK, a requirement that does not apply to arrivals from a limited number of ‘green’ countries.

In his meetings, as well as in numerous interviews while in London on Tuesday, Perdios stressed the low positivity rate of the diagnostic tests in Cyprus, the high volume of these tests, and also the progress of the country’s vaccination programme.
