President flies to Paris for informal European Council meeting

Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades, flies on Wednesday to Paris, where he will attend in Versailles, on March 10 and 11, the informal European Council meeting.

A press release issued by the Presidency said that during the first day of the meeting, participants  will discuss issues regarding the EU Strategic Autonomy in the fields of defence and energy, in view of the new security environment given the ongoing war in Ukraine.

A dinner of the European Council members will follow to discuss the general situation in Ukraine.

During the second day of the meeting, the EU leaders will discuss issues concerning the EU competitiveness and strategic autonomy, as well as investments and the new recovery model, focusing on green and digital recovery.

On the sidelines of the meeting, in the afternoon of March 11, the leaders will attend a ceremony to be held in the framework of the European Day for the victims of terrorism.

Anastasiades will be accompanied in Paris by Government Spokesman, Marios Pelekanos, Deputy Minister to the President, Kyriakos Koushos and other officials.
