President informs Tusk about Cyprus' position on EU top jobs

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades informed the President of the European Council Donald Tusk about the Republic of Cyprus position regarding the selection of  the new European Commission President and the other top EU officials, during a new telephone conversation they had on Tuesday.

Government Spokesman, Prodromos Prodromou, said in a written statement that Anastasiades also had a telephone conversatoin with the Prime Miniter of Ireland, Leo Varadkar, with whom they also exchanged views on the selection of EU institutions top officials.

With regard to the President`s discussion with Tusk, Prodomou said that it focused on the deliberations at the European Council with regard to the selection the new President of the European Commission, as well as the other top EU officials.

He also noted that Anastasiades was thoroughly briefed by Tusk about the discussions and deliberations which are taking place and exchanged views with him, expressing the Republic of Cyprus position on the issue. 
 
Anastasiades is represented at the Council by Tusk, since he was not able to fly to Brussels due to a leg injury. He underwent surgery on Saturday after fracturing his right hip during a fall in Limassol.
