Cyprus-Bahrain to sign bilateral agreements

Cyprus, bilateral and regional issues are expected to top the agenda of discussions with King of Bahrain, during the first official visit the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades is paying to the Persian Gulf state, from January 26 to 29. A series of bilateral agreements will also be signed.

According to an official announcement, President Anastasiades will visit Bahrain after Saudi Arabia, where he will express his condolences for the loss of late King Abdullah.

He will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Kasoulides, Energy Minister Lakkotrypis and Government Spokesperson Christodoulides.

While in Bahrain, Anastasiades will meet King Ahmad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to discuss, among others, international and regional affairs, bilateral relations, the Cyprus problem and aspects of combating terrorism.

Moreover, the two sides will sign bilateral agreements on aviation services, double taxation, combating terrorism, organized crime and the smuggling of drugs. Moreover, a Memorandum of Understanding in the health sector will also be signed.

The President of Cyprus is also expected to meet the country`s Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salma Al Khalifa and will address a business forum, that will be attended by tens of Cypriot business people.

In the framework of the visit, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Energy will hold separate contacts with their Bahraini counterparts, the announcement concludes.
