Cyprus-Estonia sign memorandum for digital cooperation

Cyprus and Estonia signed on Friday an updated Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of digital cooperation.

The signing took place in the framework of the official visit which Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades, is paying to Estonia. The President had a meeting in the morning with the Prime Minister of the country, Kaja Kallas, at her office, in Tallinn.

According to a press release issued by the Cypriot presidency, after their private meeting expanded talks took place between delegations of the two countries, during which they discussed about their bilateral relations, developments in the Cyprus problem, the situation in Ukraine, the migration issue, energy security, the EU-Turkey relations, as well as green and digital transition.

After the talks, President Anastasiades and the Estonian Prime Minister signed the updated MoU in the field of digital cooperation, a field, noted, in which the Cyprus government attributes particular significance, since a large part of the "Cyprus-Tomorrow" project includes policies on digital transition.

The MoU aims at enhancing the efforts of the Cyprus government towards implementing the reforms of digital transition and includes new fields of cooperation and expertise provision, among others, on issues of digital transformation and reforming the Population Registry and the Social Insurance department, of developing a framework for cyber security and improving the projects like cycle.

After the meeting, the President and the members of the Cypriot delegation visited the premises of the CybExer Technologies company which deals with cyber security issues.
