Government swiftly proceeding with radical reform of judicial system

16/10/2019 11:09

We are fully aware of the problems that remain in the judiciary system and that is why we are swiftly proceeding with its radical reform, said President Nicos Anastasiades on Tuesday.

He was speaking during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace where Haris Malahtos was sworn in as new member of the Supreme Court.

The President praised the new judge’s experience and qualifications and the zeal and impartiality he has shown in court over the years, noting his appointment will strengthen the status of justice in Cyprus.

Our objective, said the President, is that through an integrated strategy, we can promote reforms to upgrade the justice system and its services.

These legislative and operational reforms, said the President, safeguarding the autonomy and independence of the institution, aim to ensure a smooth, uninterrupted and effective administration of justice.
