Industrial Production slumps by 10% in January – August

Industrial Production in Cyprus slumped by an annual -10,1% in the period of January – August 2020, affected by the coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions to contain the disease.

According to data released on Thursday by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) the index for Manufacturing declined by an 9.6% in the period of January to August 2020.

For August the Index of Industrial Production for August 2020 reached 107.8 units (base 2015=100), recording a decrease of 8.8% compared to August 2019, whereas Manufacturing dropped to 98.4 units, recording a reduction of 8.3%, Cystat said.
